YES welcomes in-kind donations of new or gently used personal and household items. image of groceries in paper bag on tableThe following is a list of the items most commonly required. We make every effort to pass unneeded items on to other organizations. However, it is a good idea to call the shelter before dropping off in-kind donations, to ensure that we have a current need and/or the space to store your donation.

  • Scarves & mittens
  • Belts
  • Seasonal clothing for youth ***especially for teenage GUYS***
  • Combination padlocks (so residents can feel safe with their personal things secured)
  • Docets – large (plastic containers that divide up medication into different days)
  • Flip Flops (for use in the shower, to prevent infection transmission))
  • New cotton/wool socks and undergarments, t-shirts and hoodies, boots
  • New towels and face cloths
  • Toothpaste, toothbrushes
  • Board games
  • Brushes, combs, and shaving items
  • Gift cards (even small amounts -we like to catch young people doing something right and reward them!)
  • Juice & Milk
  • Cake mixes & frosting (to celebrate resident’s birthdays)
  • Fresh (or frozen) bread & buns
  • Laundry detergent & Fabric softener
  • Dishwashing liquid
  • Ketchup & Mustard
  • Toilet paper
  • Paper sandwich bags & ziploc plastic baggies
  • Grocery bags (plastic or fabric)
  • Metal beds and sealed mattresses. (to prevent bed bug infestations)
  • Batteries
  • Gift cards for grocery, clothing, hardware and department stores
  • Sewing machine(s) and fabric

(Thanks to the community’s generosity, YES does NOT currently need any more linens, soap, shampoo, and conditioner.)
