COVID-19 UPDATE from Executive Director, Aimee Le Lagadéc

Posted on January 13, 2022 in Current News

To Our Community,

Omicron is known to be a very transmissible variant of COVID-19 and we are experiencing cases in some of our programs. To prevent further infection at those locations, we are working closely with the City of Peterborough, and Peterborough Public Health to ensure all appropriate measures are in place.

We are supporting affected youth to isolate, have increased screening and testing mandates, and continue to provide in-person support to youth who need help, while minimizing client interaction with one another as much as possible. Our Youth and Family Emergency Shelter and RISE Youth Housing Program continue.

Our first priority is helping the young people and families who need us. Now more than ever, we are extremely grateful for the support we’ve received from our incredible community. We couldn’t do this work without your help.

We are currently seeking financial donations to help us cover the cost of rapid test kits for staff and clients. We understand the importance of testing, but are struggling with the cost and limited availability of rapid tests. To make a donation in support of this and other safety enhancements through the pandemic, please visit www,yesshelter.ca/donate

An enormous thank-you to all of our frontline staff who are working 24 hours/day, 7 days/week to make sure young people and families are as safe as possible through this extremely challenging time.
